Small moves, billed by the hour
A few pieces of furniture – and only the hours you actually use
Not every move fills a lorry. A studio flat, a single room, a sofa from the flea market, the contents of a student hall – for jobs like these a full removal quote is simply the wrong tool. You get a professional team and a van by the hour: we come, we carry, we go. The clock starts when we arrive and stops when the last box is standing where you want it.
- Two movers and a van – the same trained staff as on the big jobs, no day labourers.
- Billed by the hour, transparently, so a two-hour job costs two hours.
- Short notice possible – small jobs often fit into the same week.
- Insured at €620/cbm, exactly like a full move.
- Prefer certainty? Ask for a fixed price instead – you choose.
Quick check
Is yours still a mini move?
There is no official definition, so here is ours: if it fits in a van and a team of two can handle it in a few hours, the hourly rate is your friend. Roughly this:
Typical mini move
- Sofa or armchair
- Bed & wardrobe
- Desk
- 10–30 boxes
- Washing machine
- Studio flat
- One room
- Single item
Better as a full move
- Whole family home
- 5 rooms and up
- Full office
- Piano & safe
How long it usually takes
- Single item (sofa, wardrobe) 1–2 h
- One room / student hall 2–3 h
- Studio flat, few boxes 3–4 h
- 1-bedroom flat, lightly furnished 4–6 h
- 2-bedroom flat and up fixed price is usually better
Guide values for a team of two with a van. Stairs without a lift, long carrying distances or a heavy piece of furniture add time – a lift-free fifth floor easily doubles it. We tell you honestly what to expect before we start.
Not sure? Send us a list or a couple of photos of the rooms. We will tell you straight whether the hourly rate or a fixed price works out better for you – even if that means the cheaper option for you.

How the hourly offer works
No package you have to squeeze into. You book a team and a van, and you pay for the time it takes. Your hourly rate, the minimum booking and the travel flat rate are in your quote in writing before anything is booked – so the invoice can only ever contain what you already agreed to.
When the clock runs
- Clock starts when we arrive at your pick-up address
- Clock runs carrying, loading, driving, unloading – the actual work
- Clock stops when the last box is standing where you want it
Breaks are ours, not yours. And if we finish earlier than estimated, you pay less – that is the whole point of the hourly model.
Always included
- Trained, permanently employed movers
- Van with blankets, straps and trolley
- Careful carrying and loading
- Insurance at €620/cbm
Add if you need it
- Boxes and packing materials
- No-parking zone outside the door
- Dismantling and rebuilding furniture
- Disposal of what stays behind
the job is small and straightforward, the access is easy, and you would rather not pay for a buffer you do not need.
the flat is bigger, there are stairs without a lift, or you simply want a number that cannot move. Just say the word and you get one.
Four steps
From the message to the last box
No survey appointment, no paperwork marathon. For a mini move that would take longer than the move itself.

Small job, but not quite standard?
Some small moves need a different tool than the clock. Here is what usually fits better – and yes, we will tell you if that is cheaper for you.
Few items, long distance
Moving a handful of things to Munich or Hamburg? Then an hourly job makes no sense – you want a part-load on one of our scheduled routes and you only pay the cubic metres you use.
Part-load movesNowhere to put it yet
Between two flats, or the new place is not ready? We can take your things straight into storage and bring them out again when you are ready.
StorageBoxes, tape, blankets
You can pack yourself and just book the muscle – we deliver moving materials beforehand, or we pack for you and put it on the clock.
Moving materialsHalf of it can go
Small move, big clear-out? We load what comes along and take the rest away – bulky waste disposed of responsibly, in one appointment.
Bulky-waste disposalSmall job. Same standard.
A two-hour move gets the same people as a two-day one: permanently employed movers, our own vans, no subcontractors, no day labourers found this morning. That is why the small jobs are in those 4.9 out of 5 stars from more than 1,600 reviews too.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ – Hourly rates, small jobs & single items
The key answers about small moves by the hour with Junker Removals – and when you can reach us.
What counts as a mini move?
There is no official definition. As a rule of thumb: if it fits in a van and a team of two can handle it in a few hours, it is a mini move. Typical cases are a single piece of furniture, one room, a student hall, a studio flat or a lightly furnished one-bedroom flat with 10–30 boxes. From two bedrooms upwards, a fixed-price full move usually works out better for you.
How exactly does the hourly rate work?
You book a team and a van. The clock starts when we arrive at the pick-up address and stops when the last box is standing where you want it. You are told the hourly rate, the minimum booking and any travel flat rate in writing before the job, so the invoice can only ever contain what you already agreed to.
Hourly rate or fixed price – which is cheaper?
It depends on the job – and we will tell you honestly which one suits yours. The hourly rate wins when the job is small and the access is easy, because you do not pay for a safety buffer you do not need. A fixed price wins when there are stairs without a lift, long carrying distances or simply when you want a number that cannot move. You can have either.
Do you also move a single item?
Yes. A sofa, a wardrobe, a washing machine, a flea-market find – single items are everyday work for us. The minimum booking applies, so a five-minute job still costs the minimum, but you get two trained movers, blankets, straps and a trolley rather than a rented van and a sore back.
How quickly can you come?
Small jobs are flexible. Because they take only a few hours, they often fit into the same week, and Saturdays or later starts are frequently possible. At the end of the month it gets tighter, as that is when everyone moves – so ask early if you can.
Are my things insured on a mini move?
Yes – exactly as on a big one. Your goods are insured under the statutory carrier liability at €620 per cubic metre, and delicate furniture is wrapped in blankets and protective film. A small job does not mean a lower standard.
I only have a few things but I am moving to another city. Does the hourly rate work?
No – and that is good news for your wallet. For a handful of items over a long distance you want a part-load: your things travel on one of our scheduled routes, for example Berlin–Munich or Berlin–Hamburg, and you only pay for the cubic metres you actually use.
Can you bring boxes, or take away what I do not want?
Both. We can deliver moving materials before the day so you can pack yourself, or pack for you and put it on the clock. And if half of it is not coming along, we load what stays with you and take the rest away for responsible disposal – in the same appointment.
