Can the Jobcenter cover my moving costs?

What approval do I need before booking?

How many moving quotes do I need?
Ask your Jobcenter how many quotes it requires. We prepare an itemised offer that can be compared with other quotes. Tell us about any required format before we prepare it.
Can you bill the Jobcenter without an advance payment?
This may be possible where funding approval, the invoice recipient and payment arrangements have been clarified. We expressly agree the payment terms with you. General approval does not automatically mean that every move can take place without advance payment.
What if I receive social assistance under SGB XII?
Contact your responsible social welfare authority. Section 35a(2) SGB XII provides for possible recognition of moving costs with prior consent. We prepare a moving quote; the authority decides on your application.
What protection applies to my furniture?
Statutory liability differs from additional transport insurance, and limits and exclusions apply. We discuss the applicable scope and possible extra cover before booking. Tell us about valuable or delicate belongings early.
Can packing, assembly and a furniture lift be included?
These services can be assessed for your move and listed separately in the quote. Confirm whether the authority approves their costs before commissioning them. A furniture lift also depends on suitable access and setup conditions.
When should I request a quote and reserve a date?
Enquire once both addresses, your inventory and possible dates are known. Preparing the quote depends on complete details and, where needed, an inspection. Allow time for the Jobcenter’s decision; a binding date is agreed after the necessary conditions have been clarified.
