Moving with time and care
Plan your move around what matters to you
Decide which belongings will move with you and what support you want. We discuss packing, access, furniture placement and the handover at both addresses. Tell us which items you need first in the new home so they can be identified in the agreed plan. Personal travel and any care arrangements should be organised separately.
- An agreed contact coordinates the removal details with you.
- You decide what comes with you; packing and carrying follow the agreed scope.
- Ask about care-related funding before booking; eligibility is assessed individually.
- Relatives can help from another city with your agreement and the appropriate authority.
- Packing and handling agreed before booking
Long-term care insurance
Care-fund support – check eligibility before booking
A care-related move may qualify as a measure to improve the home environment under section 40(4) SGB XI. The German long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) assesses whether it enables or significantly eases care at home, or restores more independent living. A recognised care grade alone does not guarantee funding. See our care-related removals page.

You get the quote
We prepare an itemised removal quote. Ask your care insurer which documents and prior approval it requires.
You apply to the care fund
Ask your Pflegekasse which application, evidence and approval are required. Submit the quote with an explanation of how the new home addresses the care situation. We can clarify the removal services listed in our quote.
Agree booking and payment arrangements
After the decision, check which services and costs are covered. Direct billing must be agreed separately with the fund and us; approval alone does not establish the payment arrangement. Clarify any costs you will need to pay yourself.
The Pflegekasse decides eligibility and the approved amount. The current conditions and limits are explained in section 40 SGB XI and the Health Ministry’s guidance (both in German). Seek clarification before booking or incurring costs.
Choose your support
Agree the services you want us to handle
Tell us which tasks you will handle yourself and which ones you want help with. We list the agreed removal services in the quote. Funding decisions, care arrangements and any specialist connection work are separate.
Sorting out, together
You decide what to keep, move, store or dispose of. Mark the items clearly and tell us what you want packed. Storage can be discussed for suitable belongings, subject to availability and agreed conditions.
Packing & unpacking
You can book packing and unpacking for the belongings you want help with. Identify fragile and personally important items so materials, handling and destination rooms can be agreed.
Furniture dismantled & rebuilt
Tell us which furniture needs dismantling and reassembly. We assess dimensions, construction and access before including the work in the quote. Electrical, gas and water connections require separate qualified arrangements.
Setting up your new home
We place furniture and boxes in the agreed rooms and carry out booked assembly or unpacking. Identify essential items you need first. Additional fitting work and technical connections must be agreed or organised separately.
Clearing the old flat
You can request clearance of specified items and bulky-waste disposal. Send photos and describe the materials so we can assess the work. Lease requirements and the key handover remain to be agreed with the landlord.
Check access for bulky furniture
Tell us about stairs, lifts and large items at both addresses. A furniture lift or no-parking zone may help where suitable, but setup space, permissions and local conditions must be checked first.

Where the journey goes
Every senior move has its own reason
Your wishes and practical needs guide the removal plan and chosen services. Tell us what will make the handover easier for you.
Into a smaller flat
Check the new room dimensions and decide which furniture you want to bring. We agree packing, transport and any assembly for the selected items. Storage or disposal can be requested separately.
Into a barrier-free home
If a new home improves access or care arrangements, discuss possible support with your Pflegekasse. Funding depends on the individual care situation and the fund’s decision.
Closer to the family
We arrange moves in Berlin and nearby Brandenburg. For a longer move closer to relatives, one address must be in Berlin or the nearby area. Share both addresses and dates so we can assess the route.
Into assisted living or a care home
Check the new room dimensions, permitted furniture and delivery arrangements with the provider. We move the agreed belongings and can assess any separate clearance request. See our care-home removals service.
We move the furniture. You keep the memories.
Tell us which furniture and everyday items you need first at the destination. A room plan and labelled boxes help with placement. We agree packing, transport and the booked setup tasks before moving day.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ – planning, care-fund support and your move
Answers about senior removals in Berlin, the help you can request and funding arrangements to clarify separately.
Does the care fund really pay for a senior move?
It may support a care-related move that meets the requirements for improving the home environment. The move must enable or significantly ease home care, or restore more independent living. The Pflegekasse assesses the individual situation; age or a care grade alone does not establish approval.
Which care grade do I need?
Measures under section 40(4) SGB XI can be considered for people with a recognised Pflegegrad, including care grade 1. The purpose and effect of the measure must also meet the requirements. If your care status is not yet assessed, discuss the next steps with your insurer.
Do you bill the care fund directly?
Direct billing may be possible only where it is separately agreed with the fund and us. Check the approval, covered services, payment method and any amount payable by you before confirming the booking.
When do I have to apply for the subsidy?
Contact your care insurer before booking or incurring costs. Ask which documents and approval it requires. We prepare the quote for the agreed removal; the insurer decides funding.
What if two people needing care live in the same household?
A shared measure may involve several eligible people in one household. Statutory combined limits apply, and the fund assesses the eligible costs and individual claims. Ask the fund to clarify the joint application and approved allocation; funding is not automatically multiplied.
What is included in a senior move with Junker?
You choose the transport and additional services you want to request. These may include packing, unpacking and furniture assembly, with suitable lift use, materials or clearance assessed separately. The quote confirms the agreed tasks; care, personal travel and specialist connections need their own arrangements.
Can you clear out and dispose of what stays behind?
You can request clearance or disposal of identified items. We assess photos, materials and quantities before agreeing the service. Suitable storage may be available for belongings you want to keep. Please clarify the old property’s handover requirements separately.
What if the move is into assisted living or a care home?
Agree the room layout, allowed belongings and delivery window with the provider. We plan transport and booked assembly for the selected furniture. Clearance of the old home is separate, and care-fund support for one type of move should not be assumed to apply automatically to a care-home move.
Can relatives organise the move from another city?
Yes, with your agreement and the appropriate authority. We can discuss the inventory by video and coordinate through an agreed contact. Confirm who may approve the quote, decide what is kept and arrange access, while keeping the moving person’s wishes central.
