Temporary no-parking zone signs set up by Junker Removals on a Berlin street

No-parking zones in Berlin since 2012

No-parking zone Berlin applied for, approved, set up on time.

A reserved space at your door is the difference between a move that starts on time and one that starts with a search. We apply for the permit at your district authority, set the signs up in good time so the zone is enforceable, and take them away again afterwards – as one line in your moving quote.

  • Permit applied for at your district
  • Signs set up with the required lead time
  • Documented · tow request if needed
  • Signs collected after the move

No-parking zone

A parking space at your door – legally reserved

A temporary no-parking zone (Halteverbotszone) is the only way to be certain the removal lorry can stand in front of your building on moving day. It is not a cone and a hopeful note on a windscreen: it is an official permit from the district authority, made visible by signs that have to be standing for a set period before the day. We handle all three parts – ordering, approval and setting up.

  • We apply for it at the responsible district authority, with your dates and the length needed.
  • We put the signs up in good time, so the zone is legally enforceable on the day.
  • We take them away again afterwards. Nothing left on the pavement.
  • One line in your quote – no separate paperwork and no second invoice for you to chase.

What the zone buys you: the lorry at the door.

On time, by design

Ordered, approved, standing – in that order

Almost every failed no-parking zone fails for the same reason: it was ordered too late. An authority needs time to approve it, and the signs need time to be seen. So we start the process when you book the move, not when the boxes are packed.

  1. Well before

    You book the move

The zone is ordered together with your move, so the clock starts as early as possible – not the week before.

  2. Application

    We apply for the permit

We file the request with the responsible district authority: address, dates, length of the zone and what it is for.

  3. Approval

    The authority approves it

The permit comes back with the exact period and area. Only now is a zone a zone – and only the authority can grant it.

  4. Signs up

    We set up the signs

The signs must stand for a set period before your move so the zone is enforceable. That lead time is built into the plan.

  5. Moving day

    The space is yours

The lorry stands at the door, the carry is short, and the day starts on time instead of with a search for a parking space.

Short notice? Tell us the date anyway. Depending on the district and the deadline we can sometimes still get a zone approved – and if we cannot, you hear it straight away rather than on moving day, and we plan the carry around it instead.

The awkward question

And if a car is standing there anyway?

This is what people actually worry about, so here is the honest answer: it is rare, it is solvable, and it is the reason we document everything when the signs go up. What we will not do is shrug and start carrying from fifty metres away without telling you.

It rarely happens

When the signs have stood for the required period, almost everybody has moved their car. Most zones are simply empty on the morning.

We documented it

Because we photographed the signs going up and the plates parked there, the zone can be proven – and that is exactly what an authority asks for.

The authority is called

A vehicle parked in a properly signed and dated zone can be towed. We make the call and deal with it while the team gets started.

The move still starts

We do not stand around waiting. Loading begins from wherever we legally can while the space is cleared, so the day does not slip.

What we cannot promise: the authority decides whether and when a vehicle is towed, not us. What we can promise is that the zone was applied for correctly, set up on time and documented – which is what makes the removal possible at all.

When it is needed

Not a luxury – usually the plan

In most of Berlin a reserved space is what decides whether a move runs to time. These are the cases where we always recommend one.

A flat or house move

The standard case, at both addresses. A short carry is faster, safer and cheaper than a long one – see private moves.

A furniture lift

A furniture lift needs a stable, reserved footprint on the street. Without a zone there is often simply nowhere to set it up.

Deliveries of large items

A kitchen, a piano, a machine: anything that needs the vehicle close to the door for longer than a few minutes.

Narrow inner-city streets

Where a lorry blocking a lane is not an option, the zone is the only legal way to stand still.

Both ends of the day

Loading and unloading. A zone at the new address matters just as much as at the old one, and is easy to forget.

Every district, every street. The responsible authority and the fees differ from district to district, and we file with whichever one belongs to your address: Charlottenburg, Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Spandau, Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Pankow, Reinickendorf, Lichtenberg, Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Treptow-Köpenick.

The lorry at the door is not luck.

It is an application filed in time, a permit granted, and signs standing long enough to count. We have been doing that part of the job in Berlin since 2012 – 1,600+ reviews, 4.9 out of 5 stars.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ – Permits, deadlines & blocked spaces

The key answers about temporary no-parking zones with Junker Removals – and when you can reach us.

+ What exactly is a no-parking zone?

It is a temporary parking ban on a stretch of street, granted by the responsible district authority and made visible by official signs. For the period stated on the permit that space is reserved – which is what allows a removal lorry to stand at your door and, if necessary, a vehicle parked there to be towed.

+ Do you apply for it, or do I have to?

We do. You give us the address and the date, and we file the application with the district authority responsible for that street, pay the official fee and pass it on transparently in your quote. You do not have to speak to an authority at any point.

+ How far in advance does it have to be ordered?

As early as you can. The authority needs time to grant the permit, and the signs then have to stand for a set period before your move so the zone is enforceable. That is why we start the process when you book the move rather than in the final week. At short notice it is sometimes still possible – and we tell you honestly whether it is.

+ What does a no-parking zone cost?

It depends on the district and the length of the zone, because the official fees are set locally and vary across Berlin. We quote it as one clear line in your written moving quote – authority fee, signs and set-up included – so there is no separate invoice afterwards.

+ What happens if a car is parked in the zone anyway?

Because we photograph the signs when they go up and record the vehicles already standing there, the zone can be proven. A vehicle parked in a properly signed and dated zone can be towed, and we contact the authority while the team starts loading from wherever we legally can. The decision to tow is the authority’s, not ours – but the documentation is what makes it possible.

+ How long does the zone have to be?

Long enough for the vehicle plus room to work around it – and more if a furniture lift has to be set up. We work the length out from your address and what is being moved, and it goes into the application. Too short is the classic mistake: a lorry that only half fits blocks a lane instead.

+ Do I need one at both addresses?

Usually yes – and it is the thing people most often forget. Unloading takes as long as loading, and the new address is just as likely to have no free space. We apply for both at the same time.

+ Who takes the signs away afterwards?

We do, after the move. They are our signs and our responsibility – nothing is left standing on the pavement, and there is nothing for you to return or dispose of.
