Small flats, big staircases
North Neukölln is Gründerzeit Altbau: high ceilings, worn stone stairs, a courtyard between the street and the door, and a Weserstraße where a parking space is a rumour. The flats are often small – the way in almost never is.
- Fourth floor, no lift – a furniture lift takes the bed and the wardrobe through the window.
- Nowhere to park in the Kiez – we apply for a no-parking zone at both addresses.
- Courtyards and rear buildings – the extra carry is measured at the survey, so it is in the price.

My flat is on the fourth floor with no lift. Is that a problem?
No – it is the standard Neukölln job. For upper floors we bring a furniture lift that takes the bed, wardrobe and sofa through the window, so the heavy pieces never go down a worn stone staircase. The stairwell gets protected first either way.
There is never anywhere to park on my street. What do you do?
We apply for a temporary no-parking zone directly outside the building at both addresses, so the van stands at the door and the carry stays short. Around the Weserstraße and the Schillerkiez that single step usually decides whether the day runs to time.
I am only moving one room out of a shared flat. Do you do that?

Do you also move houses in Britz, Buckow and Rudow?
Yes. The south of the district is houses, terraces and gardens – which usually means a cellar, a shed and garden things on top of the rooms. In Gropiusstadt the building lift normally has to be reserved with the caretaker, and we arrange that as part of the planning.
How quickly can you move me, and can you store things?
Often within the same week when a date is free; month-end fills up fastest, so a week or two of notice is safer. If there is a gap between two contracts, your things can wait in our storage in Berlin and arrive the day you need them.
