The difference is in the cardboard
A supermarket box has one layer of corrugation. Ours have two – plus reinforced hand holes. That is why they stack without buckling, survive a lorry journey and can be used again next time, rather than collapsing halfway up the stairs with your books in them.
Single-wall board: one fluted layer between two liners. Fine for a parcel, not for a 20-kilo load carried down four floors.
Double-wall board: two fluted layers, two-and-a-half times the material in the wall. Stackable, moisture-resistant and reusable.

How many boxes
Our rule of thumb: one box per square metre
It sounds rough and it is remarkably accurate. For a Berlin flat, count roughly one moving box per square metre of living space – then add some for the two rooms that always surprise people.

Books need more
A shelf of books fills small boxes fast – and they must be small, or nobody will lift them. Count generously.
Kitchens need more
Crockery, glasses, pans and the drawer of implements. Kitchens routinely need twice what people estimate.
Wardrobes need their own
Hanging clothes go into wardrobe cartons, not into boxes. Count one per metre of rail.

Why professional moving boxes and not cheap ones from a DIY store?
Retail boxes usually lack the structural strength for heavy loads. Ours are made of double-wall corrugated board with reinforced hand holes, so they stack without collapsing and protect what is inside from being crushed. For a move, professional-grade material is the only reliable way to prevent a box failing on the stairs.
How many moving boxes do I actually need?

We work out a quantity with you based on the number of rooms and what is being packed, so you do not run out halfway through.
